Gradually the technology used in the LED lighting is
imposing on other systems such as the so-called low-power. But do we really
know the advantages of this new system from different aspects?
In this article we talked about it.
1. ULTRA-LOW POWER
LED lighting consumes 80-90% less electricity than a
conventional bulb of similar characteristics: 12LM / w to conventional bulbs
and 90lm / w LED bulbs. This saves on the bill of considerable light.
2. LONGER
The life of LED is between 30,000 and 100,000 hours
depending on the type of technology. It is up to 11 times higher when compared
with 2,000 hours of an incandescent lamp or bulb 10,000 low current
consumption. An LED bulb has a life of 25 years with an average of 5 hours per
day. The LEDs are not "melt" like conventional systems, but it will
reduce its light output depending on the quality of the semiconductor,
dissipation, ambient temperature, the bias point in voltage and intensity of
the LED, the transformation team and airtime.
3. NO DAMAGE BY SWITCHING
The lifetime of the LED lamp is not affected by the effect
of the switching that is able to turn on and off many times as necessary
without damaging it. Installing LED lighting in places like hallways, garages,
gates, landings and stairs of a building or other place where the turn on and
turn off the lights often avoid having to change often fused lamps. The low
energy lighting life are reduced by 50% due to this phenomenon. The low energy
lighting take a few minutes to reach its maximum luminous splendor, by contrast
LED luminaires to light intensity nominal working without causing surges and
need not wait for all the performance of the luminaire.
Advantages of LED lighting.
4. LIGHT QUALITY
The light emitted by the LED luminaire contains ultra violet
(UV) which prevents us being under exposure to these harmful radiation health
radiation. It is also free of annoying flicker or hum.
5. HEALTH
80% of the information we receive it through the view, no
proper lighting can cause fatigue, headache and eyes, alter our mental state
and even cause occupational or domestic accidents.
6. ECOLOGICAL
They contain tungsten as conventional bulbs, and mercury as
fluorescent lighting, do not incorporate heavy metals, are recyclable and
comply with European ROHS regulations pollutants. Saving energy directly
affects the environment since lots of energy we consume is produced in highly
polluting plants. This coupled with the fact that having longer life represents
less waste.
7. PRODUCED SOME HEAT
A conventional light bulb uses 95% of electricity to
generate heat and only 5% for lighting. LED luminaires reach a warm
temperature, do not waste energy to create heat, which also do not damage the
surrounding materials and avoid fire hazards. This makes them suitable for
applications of industrial cold and not dissipate heat in cold storage.
8. CALCULATION OF SAVINGS
Savings calculations was performed comparing a home or
dichroic halogen lamp with dichroic LED equivalent. The lifetime of the LED
dichroic (50000h) is far superior to conventional dichroic (2000h). This
calculation is also taken into account the cost of replacements made in the
lifetime of LED dichroic. Conventional dichroic just melting and must be
replaced by a new one.
